History of A Walk Among the Stars

Twenty-nine years ago, a handful of women gathered in Phyllis Amato’s kitchen to dream up a fundraising event like no other: a fashion show featuring cancer survivors. Unsure if the event would succeed, the community members found a hotel banquet room small enough to look somewhat full if they could just scrape together 250 attendees. Within days of the invitations going out, Phyllis had a very different problem: what do you do when too many people buy tickets? So began Walk Among the Stars, a unique fashion show and luncheon which quickly grew into a community-wide celebration of the life and courage of those who fight cancer – and the hospital that helps them win.

To date, more than $1.8 million for St. Jude's cancer services has been raised through this inspiring event. Experience A Walk Among the Stars and register for the 2018 event.
