About Sean D. Adrean

Dr. Adrean, was born in Los Angeles and raised in the city of Orange in Orange County.He received his degree in Chemistry from The University of California at San Diego where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He then earned his MD degree from Loma Linda University and completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University of California, Davis. He completed his Vitreoretinal fellowship at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit.

Dr. Adrean is a specialist in the treatment of age related macular degeneration – the leading cause of blindness in the United States. He also specializes in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy. His surgical interests lie in the repair of complex retinal detachments, repair of macular holes, epiretinal membranes and the surgical management of diabetic retinopathy. He has published multiple articles in peer reviewed journals such as the journal of Ophthalmology and The American Journal of Ophthalmology. He has also written multiple book chapters and is an Editor for multiple journals in the field of ophthalmology. He frequently gives talks and presentations at the national meeting for retina specialists. He is the principle investigator for multiple trials on new and emerging therapies for macular degeneration and brings the latest surgical and medical care to his patients.

Dr. Adrean is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr Adrean is also passionate about his family and has a wonderful wife and two kids. He is a fourth degree black belt and runs a karate studio.
