Raising funds for patient rooms and surgery suites in the new Northwest Tower
As of January 2015, St. Jude's two original buildings, opened in 1957 and 1962, will no longer meet seismic standards for acute care hospitals. Construction of the Northwest Tower has been strategically timed to replace patient rooms, inpatient operating rooms, and acute care services in the original buildings.
New Private Patient Rooms
The change to private patient rooms will greatly improve:
- Comfort: Larger rooms will comfortably accommodate visiting family members and the latest medical equipment
- Safety: Electronic medical records will be bedside in every room, helping clinicians safely coordinate treatment
- Privacy: Nearly all of the new patient rooms will be private, allowing for discrete discussions and care
- Healing: To promote healing every room will have natural light and comforting décor that feels like home
