Almost 50 percent of low-income children receive no dental care, meaning cavities, decay and infection often go untreated. The cost in pain, embarrassment and missed school is enormous. The St. Jude Dental Clinic, located in Buena Park, and the mobile dental services offered once a week at the Maple Center in Fullerton are helping to change that. Over 500 low-income children receive a full range of dental services each year, including cavities treatment, root canals, sealants and minor orthodontia. The impact of these services are often dramatic, with children who had been the object of stares and teasing once again having the confidence to smile.
