St. Jude Medical Center is pleased to provide you with high quality MRI services in a pleasant outpatient setting. St. Jude Open MRI is conveniently located three blocks north of our medical center. The open architecture and design is ideally suited for all patients, including children and larger adults, as well as those who are anxious or claustrophobic.
Our goal is to make the entire experience as comfortable as possible while maintaining the highest technical quality available. We do this by providing:
- A friendly, courteous staff
- Board certified, fellowship trained radiologists
- MRI advanced trained technologists
- Patients may request their images be downloaded onto a CD for their records
- In most cases, same-day appointments
- Convenient parking available on site.
Is there any risk?
MRI is very safe. There are no known health risks associated with the current magnetic field or the radio waves. Patients are not exposed to ionizing radiation, which is found in traditional X-ray. Because of the potential harmful effects associated with some metallic objects in a magnetic field, you should check with your physician or MRI technologist if:
- You're pregnant
- You've had brain, ear, eye or other surgeries
- You've had any implants or implanted electronic devices
To ensure your comfort and safety, you will be asked to complete a safety questionnaire before your exam.
Is any preparation necessary?
No special preparation is required. You may eat normally and go about your daily routine. Continue to take any medication prescribed by your doctor unless otherwise directed.
Please do not wear eye make-up, jewelry, any body piercing, watch, hairpins, or clothing with metal. Do not bring unnecessary valuables.
What to expect during the Open MRI exam
The Open MRI is probably one of the easiest and most comfortable exams you may experience. During the exam a technologist will position you onto a padded table, and ask you to lie still. You will hear a knocking sound as each image is acquired. Our Open MRI can be 50 percent faster than traditional Open MRI; however, the length of the exam depends on the particular test your doctor has ordered for you.
St. Jude Open MRI is located at 1480 S. Harbor Blvd., Suite 15 in La Habra. Click here to request an appointment for an Open MRI or you may contact a scheduling representative at (714) 446-5672.
