You Did It - Over $50 MillionThe opening of the $125 million Southwest Patient Tower in February 2009 is the most ambitious and important improvement in St. Jude Medical Center’s history. As of March 2009, donors from throughout the community had given over $52 million to the campaign.

Why did St. Jude decide to undertake this extraordinary project? When the medical center studied the communities it serves, two significant facts emerged: the population is growing and aging, and the community’s needs for medical services are increasing and changing. With no additional space inside the hospital, St. Jude had to build to fulfill its commitment to meeting the community’s medical needs.

The Southwest Patient Tower expands services essential for the community—Emergency, Cardiac and Vascular Catheterization, Critical Care, and Maternity. The patient tower offers state-of-the-art capabilities for treating today’s patients and the flexibility to adapt for medical advances and changing needs in the future.

Community need drove the decision to create the new tower. Community support was essential to make it happen.

Gifts are now helping fund new technology to enhance diagnostic and treatment options for cardiac, stroke and cancer patients. To learn more about how to help, please contact us at (714) 992-3033.
