Patient Financial Assistance Program

St. Jude Medical Center is committed to providing high quality, compassionate healthcare to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. Medically necessary care should not be delayed because you don’t have health insurance or you’re unable to pay your hospital bill.

If you do not have health insurance and worry that you may be unable to pay your hospital bill, it is important to let us know. You may qualify for the Patient Financial Assistance Program. This program is limited to hospital charges and does not include physician, anesthesiologist or professional charges that are not billed by the hospital.

Respecting Your Privacy

Seeking financial assistance can be a sensitive issue. We are committed to treating all patients with dignity, compassion and respect. All requests, information and funding will be kept confidential.

Eligibility Guidelines

You may be eligible for our program if you meet all of the following guidelines:

  • You do not qualify for government-sponsored insurance programs, such as Medi-Cal, MSI, Healthy Families, or Medicare.
  • Your family income meets certain criteria.
  • You think you may have trouble paying your bill.

A Financial Counselor will work with you to determine if you are eligible. It is important to remember that you will receive medically necessary care, regardless of your eligibility for financial assistance or ability to pay.

How to Apply

If you think you might be eligible for the Patient Financial Assistance Program, or if you have questions, please call a Financial Counselor at (714) 446-5141. If no one answers, please leave a message and a counselor will return your call as soon as possible.

A counselor will ask you a few questions and give you an application to complete. If you need help in filling out the application, a counselor will be happy to assist you.

Once your application is received, it will be reviewed and you will be notified in writing of your eligibility status.
