A Blueprint for Excellence: The Southwest Patient Tower Print E-mail

Our vision for the future starts with a new state-of-the-art patient tower designed to meet this community’s growing medical needs now and in the decades to come. Scheduled for completion in 2008, the Southwest Patient Tower will create one of Southern California’s most advanced clinical environments.

The $125 million five-story facility will include a larger Emergency Department, featuring the most sophisticated, life-saving technology and procedures available. From a cutting-edge treatment area for heart patients to a separate waiting room designed especially for families with young children, it will offer the newest improvements in patient care.

Two entire floors of Maternity Services will offer private, beautifully-designed birthing suites that combine sophisticated monitoring equipment with home-like comforts, such as private bathrooms and sleeper sofas, allowing mother, father and baby to bond during those first few days. Parents will also have the comfort of knowing that, if needed, St. Jude’s highly-respected Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and its neonatologists affiliated with Children’s Hospital of Orange (CHOC) will be just steps away.

A new Critical Care Unit will provide the most advanced care available to those most vulnerable. Here, cutting-edge technology will be put in the hands of some of the most committed doctors and nurses, allowing us to mend more lives and keep more families whole.

New state-of-the-art Cardiac and Vascular Catheterization Labs will be used to fight the nation’s number one killer – heart disease. Whether the problem is a potentially devastating aneurysm or an irregular heartbeat, these new catheterization labs will offer leading-edge, life-saving answers.

Construction Update
· Effective Monday, April 16, 2007, the entrance to the Harbor Lobby (formerly known as the Main/North Lobby) will be closed for renovations.  During the renovation period, visitors will be able to use the lobby and the elevators.  Admitting, Guest Relations and the Gift Shop will continue to operate at their current locations.  The lobby entrance will reopen when the patient tower opens at the end of 2008.
